"Poetic Landscapes"

"Land of Awakening" 18x19 oil 

Meet Susan at the Friday night March 12 reception (4-7 pm) for this special one-woman show featuring her latest plein air landscapes, especially a series of 24x24 inch scenes from Red Rock Crossing and a series of simple elegant still-lifes. Many of the pieces will be accompanied by poems inspired by the subjects themselves.

The show will featured for the month of March at the Verde Art Gallery on the Clarkdale campus of Yavapai College.

To get there from Sedona or Cottonwood, take 89a following signs toward Jerome (alternate).  Turn left at Black Hills Drive, just past the "Mustang" station. The college will be on your left in about a mile or less.  The gallery is on the second floor of the art building, Building "M" toward the back (uphill side) of the campus.

You are invited on Saturday March 13 to the Grand Opening of the Susan Pitcairn Gallery, a new artist-owned gallery in West Sedona, featuring the poetry and contemporary Southwest landscapes of Susan Pitcairn, with guest artist Lola Dennis. The day will include artist demonstrations, music, poetry reading and refreshments, from 11 am to 9 pm. Come by, meet the artists, relax and enjoy the newest addition to Sedona's destination art scene. Have dinner at Picazzo's and drop by for a relaxing look at some of Sedona's finest colorist landscapes.

Enter the Drawing for free prints, book and a framed 8x10 original painting by Susan Pitcairn (value $400)!







"A Step Beyond"

Susan Pitcairn will be a featured artist during the month of May at uptown Sedona's most popular gallery, The Sedona Arts Center, founded over 50 years ago by the town's early artist colony.

The exhibit will display her latest pastels and oils, along with pastels by Linda Dellandre, mixed media by Robert Albrecht, artistic jewelry by Jennifer Defoe and the ceramics of Mary Heyborne.

A first-place winner two years in a row at SAC's annual juried members show, Susan is now on its faculty, teaching both plein air and studio classes.



2010 Sedona Plein Air Festival

Join Susan and over 30 other talented artists at the popular week-long Sedona Plein Air Festival the last week of October, one of the most beautiful times to be in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.


The event kicks off with all the festival artists painting scenes on the streets of Uptown Sedona from 1:30 to 4 Saturday October 23, followed by an exciting sale of the works at 4:30.
Each artist's works will be featured all week at the Sedona Arts Center's Art Barn, where you can meet the artists at a reception Monday night October 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

The artists will paint throughout the region until Thursday when they reconvene by the banks of Oak Creek at L'Auberge resort for a two hour "Quik Draw," always a popular event. 

Patrons wishing first chance at buying the week's creations attend the elegent Gala reception from 6-8 Friday, Oct. 29 at the ballroom of L'Auberge. Tickets are available through the Sedona Arts Center, The next day remaining works will be shown at a free public sale at the Sedona Arts Center.
