This piece is the result of several smaller studies in pastel and oil at the feet of the most beautiful ancient cottonwood tree I've ever found in the Verde Valley, amid unusually lush spring grass following a wet winter. I have not found a tree this inspiring since my popular "Of Heaven and Earth" oak tree from my California days. This piece is vibrant and full of color and life.
